Showcase day held for innovation with industry

A showcase day highlighting the work HMGCC has carried out with industry and academia has been held in Milton Keynes.

Representatives from companies and academia, which have worked with us on published challenges, came together with users from across a range of national security organisations at the event - the first of its kind to have been held by HMGCC.

Almost one year ago, the HMGCC Co-Creation pilot launched, opening a new ‘front door’ to allow industry and academia to work more easily with government to help solve tech problems faced by national security.

HMGCC Co-Creation works by taking some of the toughest challenges faced by the national security community and publicising them via a network of collaborators in an effort to source the best possible solutions from technical communities.

So far, the team has welcomed in at least 300 proposals from academia and industry and contracted with more than 30 companies and academic organisations to advance concepts even further.

The HMGCC Co-Creation showcase brought some of the participants from past challenges into the same room to talk about their experiences and to identify potential to solve more national security challenges.

James, Head of HMGCC Co-Creation, said: “This showcase day felt like a very special event. We know we have been pioneering some of this work - enabling different types of companies, as well as academic institutions, to work more easily to support the national security community with their best technical solutions.

“This day really threw a spotlight on some of the amazing solutions which have been uncovered, often from unexpected sectors of industry who may never have considered working with national security before.”
