Pledge signed to support engineers of tomorrow
19/02/2025
HMGCC is proud to announce that we have signed up to the Tomorrow’s Engineers Code, showing our commitment to supporting diversity and inclusion in engineering and technology.
The Tomorrow’s Engineers Code was established to increase the number and diversity of young people entering engineering and technology careers and is managed by EngineeringUK.
The Code is a growing, collaborative community where members learn from one another, share best practice and commit to four pledges that inspire young people.
We are joining more than 300 signatories from across government, industry and academia, keen to encourage the next generation through STEM outreach to support young people entering the engineering and technology workforce.
The pledges are:
- Inspire connection – work together to create sustained journeys of engineering and technology inspiration activities for all young people.
- Drive inclusion – help all young people get access to engineering and technology inspiration and careers activities, especially those from groups underrepresented in the industry.
- Showcase engineering – celebrate the breadth of opportunities and benefits that careers in engineering and technology offer to all young people, as well as the positive environmental and societal impact.
- Improve impact – continuously learn from and improve activities using evaluation data, as well as sharing learnings with the community
HMGCC CEO George Williamson said:
“We are delighted to have signed up to the Tomorrow’s Engineers Code. HMGCC has a duty to go out and search for future talent, inspiring those who have not had the opportunity to experience the excitement of a career in engineering and technology. We have an established programme of STEM activities, regularly visiting schools to carry out engineering activities with classes and encouraging an interest in these key subjects.
Signing up to the code represents a powerful commitment to inspiring the next generation of engineering talent and we’re excited to play a part in shaping a more inclusive future for the industry”.
