Manufacturing team launches new campaign for fresh talent

A recruitment campaign has been launched by our Manufacturing team to attract in new talent to support HMGCC’s vital work with national security.

Our manufacturing plant boasts more than 50 disciplines ranging from PCB manufacture and testing to 3D printing, plastics expertise, paint skills, laser cutting, wiring and assembly.

Staff there stem from a range of sectors, drawn together by their skills in creative thinking, problem-solving, technical design and manufacture.

Roles currently available for those with some manufacturing experience are: production planner, technical buyer, manufacturing department manager, continuous improvement engineer and surface mount technology senior engineer, with trainee roles expected to be released for applications in the Spring.

Kevin, who oversees the mechanical workshop, said: “Working here enables people to work with cutting edge technology, which is always invested in. The staff have come from many different backgrounds, some have worked in Formula 1 before, and in some ways it is similar, although we are making different things. We still need the same level of precision and high levels of skill in quality finishes.

“When new people come in to work here, they are amazed by the scale of equipment we have and what we can do. Variety underpins the roles we are advertising, for example continuous improvement engineers will look at everything from wiring and assembly to PCBs – they are all about making processes easier, quicker and better. It’s a brilliant job.

“Our staff have a drive to innovate. I know it sounds a cliché, but every day is so different. I really enjoy the challenge of what I do. There is a huge call for our work and what we produce here can be used across the world.”
