Inspiring engineers of the future in schools across the community

This academic year has been a busy one for HMGCC, packed with school visits and educational events aimed at promoting STEM subjects to students.

Inspiring enthusiasm and love for science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) is at the heart of HMGCC’s work with schools in the community.

Recent appearances have included attendance at STEAM Northants – a careers event at the University of Northampton, which attracted more than 3000 visitors from years six to 13. HMGCC was just one of more than 70 exhibitors showcasing activities.

Other recent visits from the HMGCC STEM group have included sessions at Preston Hedges Primary School in Northamptonshire and Walton High School in Milton Keynes.

These events have been attended together with our Hanslope Park neighbours, FCDO Services.

Activities have included teaching engineering and technology skills in a fun way using technical kits including everything from robot arms to the team’s flashing, model STEM car.

CEO George Williamson said: “Encouraging future generations of engineers, scientists and technologists is really important to us here at HMGCC. I’m so proud of the work our STEM group does in working with school children and students to inspire a love of these vital subjects.

“At HMGCC, our work in national security engineering relies on the incredible innovation which comes from all of these disciplines. We want to teach young people these are subjects that can lead them to fascinating careers in the future - even perhaps working in the challenging world of national security engineering.”
