Applications sought for three latest national security challenges
04/11/2024
Experts are being invited to apply for the latest national security challenges released by HMGCC Co-Creation.
HMGCC Co-Creation is a pilot initiative which involves reaching out to academia and wider industry to help find solutions to national security challenges.
Industry and academic organisations have until 21 November to apply for one challenge focused on boosting the security community’s understanding of AI or other novel technologies which have the capacity to penetration test secure IT environments.
This 12-week Co-Creation challenge aims to evaluate the readiness of the technologies, their capabilities and integration needs.
This week will also be the last chance to apply for two other challenges currently being run by HMGCC Co-Creation.
Organisations have until 7 November to apply for a 12-week funded project focused on cutting eavesdropping risks in government offices. In this challenge, the team would like to hear from organisations developing AI/ machine learning techniques that provide advanced noise cancellation - to help understand more about what is now possible.
Also open for applications until 7 November is a separate 12-week challenge looking for an emulated phone solution to potentially help the NCA in its future work.
The NCA’s mission is to protect the public from serious and organised crime. It operates across the UK and around the world. This requires NCA officers to be able to communicate securely, effectively and dynamically with officers and a range of partners 24/7, 365 days a year. Communications include voice, text, video and picture messaging.
Officers may use multiple aliases and several physical mobile phones to interact with numerous people, protecting their identity and the identity of those with whom they communicate. The NCA wants to reduce the use of physical handsets, in favour of simplifying operations by using a single approved device. The single device should be able to host a series of emulations that can be spun-up and decommissioned rapidly.
For each of these challenges, HMGCC Co-Creation will provide funding for time, materials, overheads, and other indirect expenses.
The full details of each of these challenges are available here: HMGCC Co-Creation Security Challenges.
