Here at HMGCC we take our corporate social responsibility seriously - doing what we can, where we can, on a daily basis.

MK food bank

MK food bank - helping those in crisis in Milton Keynes

HMGCC hold quarterly collections on site for non-perishable food products and toiletries. The food bank relies entirely on donations of food and money from local schools, churches, businesses, organisations and individuals and every single item or penny given makes a difference. Businesses, churches and community groups can all get involved helping the food bank in a variety of ways. Our warehouse and serving centres are manned by volunteers from the local area.

How Does The food bank work?

Referral agencies identify families and individuals who need our support and issue a voucher entitling them to a food parcel. Food parcels can be picked up from one of our serving sessions located around the city. Clients can receive a food parcel x5 times within a rolling 12 month period. (Although we are flexible in some cases when clients need further help.)

Volunteer days

HMGCC is proud to offer each permanent member of staff, 3 days a year, paid leave to use towards volunteering for a registered UK charity. A large number of our staff take advantage of these days to help a variety of local and national charities. 

HMGCC charity of the year

Each year, around February / March, staff at HMGCC are encouraged to submit nominations for a charity organisation to vote on and become our charity of the year. Once we have our charity, we hold a range of charity events on site to make sure we raise as much money as we can in the year. These include raffles, cake sales and quizzes as well as other initiatives.

Recycling at HMGCC

HMGCC aim to recycle as much as possible on site, with each working area having a waste bins for 

  • plastics
  • paper
  • food / non recyclable
  • aluminium 

All bins are clearly marked and coloured for ease of use.

Vegware

All of our coffee shop takeaway food and drink containers are compostable items created and supplied by Vegware.
