HMGCC Wins CyberFirst Public Sector Award
HMGCC has been presented with the 2026 CyberFirst Public Sector Award, recognising its support for the cyber experts of the future.
We have been supporting the CyberFirst internship course since 2018, with more than 100 students so far joining us for eight-week summer placements.
The award recognises our internship support as well as support for the CyberFirst Academy, educating members on networking and security research.
Joint winners with HMRC for 2026, we have previously been recipients of this prestigious award in both 2018 and 2022.
Part of the national CyberFirst programme, the internship enables undergraduate students the chance to learn from experts and work alongside software and security research staff at HMGCC.
Daniel, CyberFirst Lead at HMGCC said: "Winning the CyberFirst Public Sector Award means a great deal to me personally. None of this would have been possible without the dedication of an amazing team – more than 30 people who give their time, energy and expertise to mentor and support our interns. This recognition reassures me that we are doing something right, and we are incredibly proud of this recognition and look forward to continuing this journey into the next chapter."
CyberFirst is NCSC’s student bursary and development scheme for undergraduates.
More than 86 per cent of students on the scheme enter a cyber security related role, many of which are within national security.
