HMGCC launches Top 10 Technologies campaign to invite innovation

HMGCC is this month launching its new Top 10 Technologies campaign, aimed at matching the UK’s most thought-leading innovation with some of the biggest topics under the national security spotlight.

This campaign is about inviting innovation into national security, opening doors and giving experts with the best inventions, creations and concepts more opportunities to potentially work with HMGCC.

From today (29 September), we will be sharing more detail about the types of technologies HMGCC is interested in hearing about.

We will also be offering the opportunity for innovators to send us in news of their ideas and products, so we can investigate whether they can be used with national security in the future.

Our 10 technology areas are: Edge AI, quantum sensing, advanced manufacturing, advanced power sources, RF signals and antennas, communications systems, detection of security vulnerabilities, identity protection, novel electronics and space. More details about each of these are available on the Inviting innovation page of our website.

CEO George Williamson said: “Over the last two years, HMGCC has been doing some trailblazing work with industry and academia. We have already been working closely with companies and innovators at universities and colleges to help turn their inventions into real solutions to help national security.

“Now we want to expand on that work, inviting innovators in companies big and small, in research labs and educational institutions to come and talk to us, to send us their ideas and proposals on some of the core technologies which will be forming part our campaign for the next year.

“We have listened to innovators who have told us they would like to work with us, but don’t always understand the scope of what we are interested in and what is useful for us to hear about. Now we want to communicate that a lot more clearly with you and create more opportunities to help national security’s vital work.”

To find out more or to submit an idea, fill out our form on the Inviting Innovation page of our  website page inviting innovation. Maximum word count for submissions is 250 words.

Throughout the year, also look out for special challenges and events linked to our listed technologies.
