Girls In Science conference hosts HMGCC leader to inspire future talent

Students attended a Girls in Science conference this week in which they picked up some words of wisdom on future STEM careers from our CEO George Williamson.

George addressed the audience at Unity Place in Milton Keynes in a ‘fireside’ interview segment led by Girls In Science founder Lakechia Jeanne.

Girls In Science is an initiative which works to encourage young people aged 14-30 into a career in STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths).

At the event, George spoke being a CEO and how talent can stand out from the crowd. He also spoke about the kinds of opportunities available at HMGCC for all those interested in this field.

George said: “We have so many talented people of all genders who work in science and engineering here at HMGCC.

“With many STEM disciplines still under-represented by women particularly, taking these opportunities to speak about the importance of diversity in STEM careers is important to HMGCC, which seeks to drive down barriers and recruit those of different genders and backgrounds.

“STEM careers are for everyone, there are fantastic opportunities right here in Milton Keynes and I would like to say a huge thank you to Girls in Science for inviting HMGCC along to help spread the word to the STEM talent of the future.”
